Surah Mulk Protects From Punishment Of The Grave

It is related in the Sunans of Imam al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud on the authority of Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him):

I heard the Messenger of Allah (upon him be peace) saying, "There is a Surah in the Qur'an which contains thirty Ayat which will keep interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is `Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion.' (Surat Al-Mulk 67).''

Another hadith, I believe it is from Tirmidhi:

A person is approached [by the angels of punishment] in the grave from the legs then the legs say: You cannot approach him from here for he used to stand on us reciting Surat al-Mulk; when they approach his chest it says: You cannot approach him from here for he preserved Surat al-Mulk in me; and when they approach his head it says: You cannot approach him from here for he used to recite Surat al-Mulk with me.

Hence this Sura is the Immunizer (al-Mani`a), it immunizes one from the punishment of the grave. It is mentioned in the Torah* as Surat al-Mulk also. If anyone recites it in the night he has accomplished a great deal and has excelled.

Isn't this a wonderful benefit of reciting a 30 ayat (verse) Surah every night before sleeping? I am trying to make it a habit to reciting it every night. InshaAllah, I'm hoping in the process I end up by hearting it. :)

* Please note: I have taken that statement from sunnipath and have not personally come across any references of the Surah in the online versions of the Torah.

Subhhanallah! =) Also, reading Surah Yaseen, Surah Sajda, and Surah Waaqiah, in the night is really beneficial too. =)

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: "The person who reads Yaseen every night, (he) will be pardoned." (Baihaqi)

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: "The person who reads Surah Yaseen every night, thus when he dies, he will die as a sha'heed (martyr)." (Tabaraani)

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: "All things have a heart, the heart of the Quraan is Yaseen. The person who reads Yaseen, (once) Allah will record for its reader a thawaab (reward) equal to reading the Quraan ten times." (Tirmizi, Daarimi)

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: "The person who reads Tabarakallazi-Biyadihil-Mulk and Alif-lam'meem Tanzeel-us-Sajdah between Maghrib and Esha. The reward (for reading these two Surahs) will be as though he (the reader) had stood awake during (the night of) Laylatul-Qadr." (Ibn-Mardawayh, Ruhul-Ma'aani)

Sayyidina Abdullah Ibn Masood R.A. relates that I heard Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam say: "The one who reads Suratul-Waaqiah every night, poverty will not befall him." (Abu-Yala, Baihaqi)

MashaAllah! Thanks so much for sharing those! I was thinking to add them as separate posts. So, jazakillah khair. :D

I would love to build the habit of reading all of these Surahs at night. By the way, I believe I read that Surah Mulk should be read preferably before sleeping. Although, I think the benefit of it acting as a protector from punishment of the grave.

In the book I read from, "Majmu'a Wazaif" Duas for the Contentment of the Heart, for surah mulk it says, read this Surah every night, either between the Maghrib and Eshaa Salaah or after Esha Salaah. I like reading them all together. And inshallah you can start! And once it does become a habit, it's a lot easier, and you get more quicker in reading it. Just don't procrastinate in starting, because than it keeps on getting delayed, like ill start tomorrow, ill start tomorrow, and who knows when that "tomorrow" will come. Yeah, you might sometimes slip, or might feel too tired to read at times, but once you do get in the habit, you wouldn't want to miss it. =)

^ I know what you mean. But starting off it always hard. It takes a while for it to become a habit. Actually, I've already started with Surah Mulk and I want to make it a habit first before moving on to other Surahs. :)

is* always.

And early, I meant that reading it between Maghrib & Isha or after Isha would probably have the same benefit but my sentence got cut midway somehow. lol.

Lol. Omg! I knowww!! Same here. Staring is the hard part for me! Once you actually start, you can finish. And once you start practicing on it, it does become easier. But to start something is the hard part! I totally get it. Like with homework for example...once i start, i can probably finish, but since i dont start, i dont get it donee! =D But heyy, im here for you, encouraging you the whole way! haha. =)

^ Totally! Thanks hun. :D Unfortunately, I haven't been doing it regularly. But, inshaAllah, it'll become a habit. I guess, I should make a fixed time for reading it because I sleep at different times everyday which is not helping.

^ Good idea but I read it's preferable to read before sleeping so I was confused.
